Gardens Group, Bristol
What it is: We meet at various local gardens, most of which are privately owned and not open to the public.
When it is: The group meets every other Tuesday from March through to the beginning of October. We normally meet at 2pm
Where it is: Venues arranged by the Garden Group Convenor or by members of the group. Most gardens are within a 20 mile radius of Bristol, but some will be further afield. Brief details of visits appear in newsletters and below, but full details are given to group members by email. Members use their own cars.
The group meets simply to enjoy local gardens. There is a charge made by the garden owners, but this is nearly always donated to a charity of the owner’s choice. Usually the owner is available to chat about the garden, and give advice about plants. The afternoon always finishes with a cup of tea and generally a home-made cake.
Dogs are not permitted, except for guide/support dogs.
If you wish to visit any of the gardens, please email or telephone the Gardens Group Convenor by the preceding Saturday evening at the latest. Please make sure that she has your contact details and she would also like to hear from you if you can organise a garden visit for the programme.
Pandemic arrangements
For the year 2021 we are meeting at a few selected gardens which are open to the public. Members have been given details of the gardens and have to book themselves a place. It is vital that members abide by the restrictions current at the time of the visit.
If anybody has any ideas for a visit or for a day trip, in the future - please contact the Group Convenor.
Contact the Convenor by clicking on the pigeon "send a message" link.
_Access varies according to host garden. The garden owners are generally very helpful about parking and allowing members to use the toilet, but this may change as a result of the pandemic.
