Music, the Blues and its Branches
Formerly known as 50 SHADES OF BLUE
What: A group dedicated to the study and appreciation of blues music and its roots and influence.
When is it: Monthly pn third Thursday, 2.00 to 4.00pm.
Where is it: In members' homes (usually Coronation Rd, BS3).
Since the beginning of the group we have explored the origins and legacy of the blues from Africa to the present day. We have found that the blues has given birth to many forms of closely related music such as jazz, gospel, soul, rhythm & blues, rock'n'roll and 'World Music' etc.
Now we include many of these forms of music, and for the first hour we feature topics, or individual artists, followed by playing 'open' selections brought by members of the group for discussion and enjoyment. Most formats can be accommodated, including vinyl.
We do have some room for new members who may be interested.
