Bristol

Walking Group

What it is: Our walks tend to vary in length from 5-10 miles and take place within 30 miles of Bristol, such as Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Wales.

Here are details of the walks we have enjoyed from February 2010 until March 2020.

When it is: We walk on the alternate Friday to the Walking South Group so that members of both groups can walk weekly if they wish.

Scroll down for dates and brief details of future walks

Where it is: The meeting place is arranged by the leader and we meet 10.00 for 10.15 start. Details for the walks will be sent out by email to group members in advance and joining a walk will be on a first request basis. If any member is unable to obtain a space they will be given priority on the next walk. Most walks are circular 5-10 miles and we factor in a coffee stop part way so flasks/snack can be brought with you if desired. The leader arranges a pub or picnic at the end. If a pub, members will usually need to pre book food with the leader prior to the walk from a menu emailed in advance. It is individual choice to stop and eat or go straight away after the walk ends.

Members of the group take turns in planning and leading a walk. Groups could, in previous times, be 15 - 30+, but for the foreseeable future will be 6-12 depending on the risk assessment done by the leader and how many they feel comfortable with, eg the walk might have narrow paths where it is not easy to social distance in larger numbers.

Walks are not restricted unless new guidance is advised, but no member should walk if showing signs of Covid 19.

Dates for your diary (see below) show the walk leader and probable walking area. This could change due to weather or restrictions so please keep a check on here.
