In between the main monthly meetings there is an open Members' Afternoon. This is an opportunity for members to get together for tea and a chat but mostly these have a theme or focus.
The Members' Afternoon is used to allow either a group or a member to organise the afternoon.
Groups can use the afternoon to share or ‘showcase’ their work, enjoy a quiz, a debate, a game of cards, to plan an outing or activity, to set up a new group. Recent afternoons, for example, have featured a mini-Antiques Road Show, an archive film show, making decorations for our Christmas Tree Festival entry, an exhibition by the photography group, a display of recreated historical clothing……
An example of the use of this afternoon has been a photo competition arranged by the Photography group who displayed pictures of what are well known sites in the town, but were either just a part or taken from a different angle.
Other Members' Afternoons have been used for Quizzes, Archive Films, Members' Forums, Strawberry Teas, Games on the Green, Board Games, Beetle Drives, Antiques Afternoons...
New ideas are always welcome!
Any Members' Afternoon not previously booked is used by the Tea Party group.
