Events from beyond Bridport U3A
Below are invitations to various events and activities that have come from outside Bridport U3A
• The New Elizabethan Singers are conducted by Matt Kingston (who used to train our Singers Group) and around a dozen U3A members are also members of NES.
At their next concert on 2 February, they will be joined by an orchestra and professional soloists to sing Puccini’s ‘Messa di Gloria', a gloriously operatic piece with soaring melodies, and Bruckner’s powerful and dramatic ‘Te Deum’. An uplifting and winter-chill-beating evening is in store for all who come to St Swithun's Church at 7 pm.
Tickets [£12] are available now from Bridport Music and Goadsby in South Street.
• Local Family History Society
The West Dorset Branch meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 2pm at Loders Village Hall. They have an excellent programme of talks which cover family, local and social history. You don't have to have family from Dorset to find something of interest to you.

• Are you looking for a new opportunity to study? On-line learning may be the answer!
If you have a computer and enjoy the challenge of individual study there are lots of opportunities for accessing free courses on-line.
Keith Windsor has followed two courses with an organisation called Future Learn, one considering the poetry of William Wordsworth at Dove Cottage, (Lancaster University), and one exploring the night sky through the constellation Orion (Open University). Both were completely free and consisted of text, photos, video and the opportunity to share in discussion with others on the course. The courses were organised in four weekly units of study, but you can do as much or as little as you wish in your own time.
Contact Keith if you are interested in joining by clicking this on line learning link if you want further details.
You can also search the web for free on-line courses.
