Bridlington

Letter From The Chair January 2017

After a very successful 2016 in which we enjoyed a variety of new experiences, holidays and trips, we finished on a very positive note with another superb Christmas Concert put on by some of our talented groups. It is amazing to see how their performances become so much more professional as the years go by. Well done to everyone who took part. You certainly gave us very good value for our £1 entrance fee! The concert was followed by a Christmas lunch for 65 members in the Harbour Suite which was also very much enjoyed by those who attended and this rounded off the morning very well.

Now it is time to think about what we have in store for 2017. Your committee will, as ever, be working hard behind the scenes to ensure that there are more opportunities for us to come together in friendship as new groups are formed and new activities introduced. We will also be beginning a wider involvement in the community by taking a part in the Bridlington Quay Renaissance Project, details of which are now available to anyone who would like to take part.

More importantly, we will be looking ahead to the next AGM, when several of us will be standing down after our time in office. If you think that you would like to be part of the next committee, we suggest that you come forward to sit in on some of our committee meetings to see how things are done. You can then decide whether you would like to join us and begin by shadowing those who will be leaving so that we can ensure a smooth transition. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of one of the most important organisations in the town as you will see from the article on “Friendship” in this edition.
