HISTORY IN LOCKDOWN
Our History Project - a Timeline of the period September 1939 to June 1940 - came to an abrupt end in March as the country went into lockdown. Or did it?
The Project had generated considerable interest and enthusiasm, with many group members submitting personal stories of their own experiences or those of wider family members and the communities in which they lived. We were scheduled to display our findings at a VE Day Celebration event in Brackla Community Centre, but sadly that was not to be.
From my perspective far too much time, effort and interest has been shown in our Project for it to go to waste, and I continue to work on display boards which I hope we will have opportunity to share when life returns to some kind of new 'normal'. I have also been preparing and circulating, by email or via links on this website, a written version of the talk I would have given each month had we still been meeting. Also, some of you have continued to send me information via email, and if you do have stories still to share please send them on to me.
We are scheduled to resume our meetings in September, but whether we will be able to or not remains to be seen. Watch this space for further news.
In the meantime, please take care of yourselves.
