The men that died fighting in
the First World War were remembered at the Guildhall on Tuesday 6th December 2016 at the launch of a book with the above title. It represents research carried out by members of the Brecon U3A Family History Group over a period of two years, and contains details of 179 men whose names are listed on various memorials, as well as supporting articles on the context of the war, together with a brief history of the town. Elaine Starling, Chair of Brecon U3A welcomed everyone, and paid tribute to the scholarship and research carried out by the group, and expressed the hope that it would take its place as an essential record of the history of Brecon and Breconshire. Because research is a continuing process, additions and further information can be made by
accessing the web site- http:/ / www.breconremembers.co.uk The production of the book was made possible with the support of grants from Brecon Town Council, Gwanwyn age Cymru, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
