Braunton & District

Welcome

Welcome to the Braunton and District U3A. At the University of the Third Age you will have the opportunity, together with like minded people, to explore and expand your interests whatever your level of expertise. The word university is used in it's original sense 'a group of people with a desire to learn' Whether you wish to lead a group or simply to learn something completely new all are welcome at the U3A. At the present moment we have 275 members. New members always welcome

We meet at 10.30am on the first Tuesday of every month in Braunton Parish Hall. There will be a charge of £2.00 which includes a raffle, tea/coffee and there will be a speaker on a topic of general interest. Also at our monthly meetings, you can learn more about, and if you wish to join, one of our interest groups.

Our interest groups are formed by individuals with a common interest in learning a foreign language, quilting, walking and local history are examples of popular groups but there is literally no limit to the number and kind of groups that can be formed. If a group in which you are interested does not exist then it is relatively easy to form one, all that is required is a small number of like minded individuals.

Groups are largely self-managed.They may meet at member's homes, a local hall or even the great outdoors. Informality is the key.

Braunton and District U3A is a member of the U3A Trust which amongst other benefits provides liability insurance for members.

Your only commitment is to abide by the Aims and Guiding Principles of the U3A movement, never do anything to bring the U3A into disrepute and abide by our constitution and respect your fellow members at all times and, of course maintain your membership of Braunton and District U3A.
