Ride & Amble Walking Group
This is the intermediate walking group, between the Strollers and the Ramblers. As the name suggests we "ride" by public transport from our home areas to the starting point of our walk and the "amble" as it suggests is a steady walk of approximately 4 to 5 miles on level footpaths.
We try to make the walks stile and hill free, where possible using surfaced paths and canal towpaths.
We take a snack and a drink to enjoy whilst we have a break and enjoy the surrounding countryside.
SINCE THE GROUP HAS BEEN FUNCTIONING FOR SOME TIME WE ARE HAVING TO GO FURTHER AFIELD EACH MONTH.
AUGUST OUTING TOOK THE FORM OF A TREASURE HUNT,PROVIDING AT THE SAME TIME A GOOD HISTORIC WALK. THE WEATHER WAS VERY KIND TO US AND WE NJOYED LUNCH AT THE PUB.
SEPTEMBER'S WALK WILL BE ARRANGED BY BERYL AND SHEILA.
ON A LOVELY SUNNY DAY IN OCTOBER SOME 18 MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP VISITED THE MOUNTSORREL AND ROTHLEY HERITAGE CENTRE FROM WHERE WE PROCEEDED TO WALK TO SWITHLAND RESEVOIR SOME 3 MILES DISTANT. COFFEE AND LUNCH WAS CONSUMED AT THE CENTRE.
