The group was set up in January 2012 with the support of England Squash and Racketball. Two ESR coaches worked with us to develop skills. A number of experienced group member have now taking over the coaching but our links with ESR continue. We regularly play in U3A racketball friendly tournaments at Chapel Allerton in Leeds and Ilkley. Bradford U3A also takes its turn in hosting tournaments. Click on the link in the right-hand sidebar to view a short video on why play racketball.
Playing in a tournament suggests we are all 'expert' players - not so! Some of us are real beginners, others have past experience of squash and are very competent players. We manage to accommodate all levels into the session. We start with some skills practice and then play games, matched up with those of a similar ability. Some of us had no experience of sport since school days, we just wanted to keep fit and learn something new. So please don't be put off if you are not 'sporty'. You are very welcome to come along and try a session without making any commitment.
The group play at Heaton Squash and Tennis Club. There is a special reduced charge for use of the courts and rackets are provided. All members need is some comfortable clothing and a pair of trainers with non-marking soles.
