A Prospectus
We enjoy exploring the rich heritage that poets of the English speaking world have created and are still doing so. The life and times of poets and their works are of interest. Old or new, avant garde or traditional, all forms of this wonderful art are welcome.
We meet in each other’s homes once a month on the afternoon of the third Thursday of that month when we focus , usually, on a particular poet. The choice of poet is a democratic one. During a typical meeting we read relevant poems and discuss the poems and the life and historic setting in which the poet worked, amongst other things. There is rarely an agenda because we prefer a free flowing, uninhibited discussion process.
Like all u3a Groups, we evolve; membership fluctuates as does member interests so nothing is set in stone. New members are encouraged to share their particular ideas and preferences. No specialist knowledge is required or expected.
Joining is free and easy, and because we meet in each other’s homes there is no charge for participating. Meeting hosts always provide tea or coffee etc. often with sumptuous additional fare.
Why not give it a try; you will be surprised how much fun it is?
If you are interested please contact our Convenor (by clicking here: Poetry 2 Group Convenor) for more information.
