Blyth & District

Welcome to Blyth & District U3A

The U3A (University of the Third Age), is an organisation that brings together retired and semi-retired men and women who want to learn from one another and share experiences, knowledge, philosophies, values and ideas in a friendly and informal setting. Click on the U3A badge upper right to get more info.

The inaugural meeting took place on the 24th September 2021 at Blyth Town Football club, with many of the 70 attendees becoming members and showing great interest in the variety of volunteer led groups which are now on offer. (click on Groups).

We now have a compliment of over 140 members (December 2022)

Steeped in a great history of ship building, mining and inshore and offshore marine technologies, Blyth, which today is a thriving coastal town in South East Northumberland, has records that date back to the 12th century. There are good transport links into the town centre from surrounding areas such as Cramlington, Annitsford, Dudley, Bedlington and Seaton Delaval from where a great deal of interest in our U3A has been shown.

For an opportunity to find out more and meet with our members come along to one of the friendly monthly meetings which are held on the 4th Friday of the month at 1pm to 3pm in the Blyth Town Football club main room, South Newsham Pavilion, South Newsham, Blyth, NE24 3PS (click on Events) Please bring your own cups to save our washing up and as we have a large membership our committee will supply tea, coffee & biccies but we don't have a lot of mugs or cups.

There is an application form on the Links page, this can be downloaded using a pdf reader and filled in at your leisure. You can give this to any committee member or at the door at our monthly meetings (with your subscription, pro rata for the part year).

If you have further queries, then please click on our Contact page where you can email the relevant person directly.😊
