MAKE NEW FRIENDS, LEARN NEW THINGS & ENJOY LIFE

There are approximately 20+ activity groups available to Blyth & District U3A members, although some groups close for August & during the winter. As we expand there will be a greater interest in other groups and this will be conveyed to members at our monthly meetings.
Most groups meet on a monthly basis. Please note that members may be disappointed if the groups are full, please contact the group coordinator to ascertain space. Also to join a group you MUST be a member of the Blyth and District U3A. The membership form can be downloaded on the Links page. Members of other U3A's can join but will pay a reduced members fee.

We are looking to start yet more groups very soon, if YOU have any ideas for new groups please let the Group Coordinator know via the Contact Page. You don't have to have any qualifications other than an interest or hobby to form a group and be a group leader.

Please check out below for relevant group for details of times and venues etc.

Note that Groups with an asterisk *, will require a small cover charge to cover the cost of hall hire etc

THE ARTS APPRECIATION GROUP’S TRIP TO CHERRYBURN 19TH OCTOBER

The long-awaited trip to Cherryburn finally arrived!!

The trip provided an opportunity to see the birthplace of the renowned Northumbrian artist Thomas Bewick, wood engraver and naturalist, who revolutionised print art in Georgian England.

The team at Cherryburn were so helpful and welcoming. Norma’s talks to the groups were absolutely brilliant – she brought Bewick’s story to life. There were sketches of his very unpromising start at school to his hugely successful career in Newcastle. We also got an opportunity to visit the print room where a demonstration of Bewick’s craft was provided.

Brunch/lunch was provided by Buddie’s Tea Room where there was another warm welcome and a fabulous selection of home-made food.

The weather may not have been wonderful but the day certainly was!!

A huge thank you to Vanessa and Anne for all their help and a special mention to Elizabeth who provided the atmospheric photos of the day.

A further outing has been scheduled for December 4th when the Arts Appreciation and Theatre Groups have joined forces for a trip to the Phoenix Theatre.

There are further outings planned for Spring/Summer 2024 – look out for updates nearer the time.
