Our last meeting of the year was well attended, 16 people gathered at Woodham Walter Women's Club for a fun Quiz afternoon which I think was enjoyed by all. It was followed By the traditional teas, Coffee and cake. Thanks to all who contributed goodies.
Our next meeting will be on Monday 19th February when we will be visiting Blunts Hall Witham CM8 1LX It is a restored 3 acre Victorian Courtyard Garden, with a Terrace leading down to lawns with a reinstated Parterre.
A Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy new year to you all. Stephy.
We were very lucky last Monday 23rd October to have fine weather for our visit to Marks Hall Arboretum where 12 of us met up despite various road closures.
We were there to witness the glorious autumn tree colours. Unfortunately we were a little premature. Autumn colours everywhere are very late this year.
Do any of you remember this time of year, about the time of Guy Fawkes when all the leaves were gone and it was cold enough to see your own breath in the cold night air as you waited for the bonfire to warm you up.
Now Roses, Salvia's, Rudbeckia, Fuchsia, Dahlias and many others are still blooming in the walled garden at Marks Hall, as I expect they are in most of our own gardens
A kind volunteer drove the buggy up there with 5 of our less able members on board.
I must say I would have liked to have joined the party, they seemed to have had a hoot of a time, the volunteer driver imparted plenty of local gossip about Marks Hall and its owners.
There were some what I would call sculpted areas of grass which were a little lost on me but overall the Arboretum is a delight to visit at any time of the year.
