Bishop`s Stortford

Our monthly meetings are held on Zoom until further notice. There's no need to book a place but these are for members only. The link can be found in the links section on the right.

On Monday, 9th November at 2.30pm you can join a talk by Dr. James Taylor called 'Brilliant British Humour in the Forgotten Art of the Picture Postcard: 1840-1950’. You can see some of the postcards he'll mention on this page.

U3A started in France at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Toulouse in 1973. In France the Third Age University is mostly associated with a local university. By the early 1980's, the scheme reached the United Kingdom where its nature was radically changed to be more a self-help organisation for people of mature age. This model is also used in Australia, New Zealand, the Dominican Republic and South Africa.

Bishop's Stortford U3A was started in 1985, and currently has in excess of seventy interest groups, with a total membership in excess of 1,000. The annual membership fee is £15.

There is no waiting list to become a member of Bishop's Stortford U3A, so if you are interested in joining please email our Membership Secretary via the CONTACT page for an application form and more information.
