Pilates is a form of exercise, which is complete mind and body experience, which helps strengthen the core muscles and improve body awareness and balance. Movements (most of which are floor based on a small mat) should be performed in a flowing, smooth and controlled manner with emphasis on correct body alignment.
The group meets in the Woo Pilates Studio on Wednesdays from 10:40 to 11:40 except during school holidays. The cost at present is £9 per class payable in advance according to the number of classes in a half-term session.
The class is limited to 6 people and is conducted by a qualified instructor. Previous experience of Pilates is essential and beginners would need to complete a short induction course before joining. These can be arranged through the instructor but would be open to the public as well as U3A members.
