Who runs the subject groups?
Those who teach are also those who learn - our general principle is self-help. People from all walks of life have the opportunity to meet like-minded members to expand their knowledge, share interests or acquire new skills. Many of the subject groups are small enough to meet in members’ houses and they are self-organising, self-energising and self-led.
Some of us know more about a topic than others, but we are all learners, together – we are not like a Workers’ Educational Association session or an evening class. It is much more effective that way and much more fun! It is participative learning in its widest sense and our mantra of “by the members, for the members” is summed up by the pneumonic PIES – physical, intellectual, emotional & social development and our motto is “Learn, Laugh & Live”.
