WHENAlternative Wednesday mornings 10 am until 12 noon

This group will resume activities when Covid restrictions allow.

We are an acoustic music group playing guitars, bass, violin, folk harp, harmonicas, ukulele and mandolin. Other instruments/vocals would be welcomed. We play folk, country and pop/rock music. Tunes we all know. The emphasis is on fun and the buzz of playing in a band, rather than musical excellence. If you’ve played an instrument and would like to start again why not come along to see what we are doing! You might even recognise some of the tunes!

At present we have people who can play guitars, fiddle, harp, bass, ukulele, mandolin and harmonica. Anybody with drum or percussion skills would be welcome as would anybody who has ever sung in a folk or pop band.

Most of us are self-taught musicians so don't feel you'd be at a disadvantage if you can't read music. We've played all sorts of pieces so far ranging from Greensleeves and Scarborough Fair to Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, Heart of Gold by Neil Young, Brown-eyed Girl by Van Morrison, Urban Spaceman by Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, and Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks.

We've been together for about 18 months and good progress is being made. The next challenge will be putting together a performance. It's great fun and we try hard not to frighten the horses! We meet fortnightly on a Wednesday from 10:00am to 12 noon at my home. If you'd like to come along please contact me geraldacumming@gmail.com or phone 07802 705284
