The Biggar and district U3A Photographic Group is for those who enjoy taking photographs, but feel they may want to progress further than just ‘point and shoot'. These days an expensive top of the range camera is not necessary to take a stunning photograph. Smaller digital cameras and indeed smart phones can produce good high resolution images as well.
We usually meet every month apart from August and December with outings to venues such as Dawyck Gardens or New Lanark, interspersed with meetings where we review our photographs, discuss photographic technique, and plan future meetings.
In the past we have exhibited our work during Biggar Little Festival, and we have also held an exhibition in the museum. A small collection of photographs is on permanent display in the upstairs corridor of the Elphinstone Hotel
We welcome new members of any standard, and as we mainly learn from each other, you are sure to quickly feel at home in our informal group.
Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Wednesday morning of the month from 10am to 12 noon, upstairs in the Elphinstone Hotel. Teas and coffees are available during these meetings.
