Bridge

As from the 1st February the Bridge Group will change their venue and will meet at 2pm on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesday of each month at Launton Grange. We play rubber or duplicate bridge depending on the numbers present. The group is very friendly - no fiery post-mortems, we are happy to say. At present we have 18 members. New players, with some experience, are always welcome and can come along and join in which ever sessions they wish, however please contact Denise Thornton if you wish to join us as we do need to ensure we have an even number of players at each session. I am sorry but we cannot cater for beginners.

On the 14th November we had 4 pairs playing. Colin and Pam came first followed by Maria and Tricia. There was no session on the 28th November but once again on the 5th December four pairs played. Bob and Denise came first with all three other pairs tying for 2nd place.

We started the new year with a session on the 2nd January with two tables playing. Again on the 16th January we had two tables when Dave and Denise came first closely followed by Tricia and Maria.

On the 30th January, our last session at the Library, 5 pairs played duplicate bridge. Dave and Denise came first with Beryl and Clive and Steve and Bob tying for second place. Our next session will be on the 6th February at our new venue Launton Grange.

The 6th February saw our first session at our new venue, Launton Grange. We found this very comfortable and the hospitality was superb. 10 of us played duplicate bridge, and we were joined by one of the residents who is thinking of joining us. There was a tie for first place between Pam and Clive and Dave and Denise.

On the 5th March we had three full tables with 6 pairs playing. This included two new players who had just joined the group. Dave and Denise came first, Steve and Gill in second place and Audrey and Pauline in third place.

Again on the 19th March we had 3 full tables. Steve Gill came first with a tie for 2nd place, Audrey and Pauline, Dave and Denise. The remaining 3 pairs were very close behind.

On the 2nd April we were down to 2 tables, some of our members were involved with Easter activities. The result was very close with George and Clive coming first and Jackie and Bob and Dave and Denise tying for second place.

We had 3 full tables on the 16th April when George and Clive again took first place, being the only ones to bid and make a slam. Again we had a tie for 2nd place, this time between Audrey and Pauline and Dave and Denise. Our next session will be on the 30th April.
