Arts & Crafts
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month (excepting Bank Holiday Mondays) at 2pm - 4 pm in the Community Space at the new Bicester Tesco Store.
We all have differing skills (or no skills at all!!) and we 'muck in' to help each other so that we can all have a go at something new or brush up on skills we already have. If you just want to carry on with a 'project' of your own, come along for the company and you might pick up or pass along skills along the way.
Past months have been occupied with the art of folding books. This is a craft that I learnt about from another U3A member which proved enjoyable. You use an old book and very carefully fold to a pattern to make an unusual decorative item.
We have also been creative with air drying clay and then decorating with paint. Some have been used for gift tags for presents and others for Christmas trees. Can also be used as tea light holders which look lovely with candlelight shining through. More Christmas themed activities to follow at the end of the year.
Making a clutch bag out of a small mat proved to be a novel idea and interesting to make. We have also been very busy with new members of our jolly band, Jenny and Bill. They are creative card makers (amongst their many skills) and have been passing on their knowledge to us with great results. We have produced some very pretty birthday cards. This led into Christmas mode making pop-up cards with a Christmas tree theme.
Richard and Mary were in great demand again for more Christmas cards. These cards are stitched with glittery thread for great results with an excellent choice of lovely designs.
We had an outing to the Crafts Show at the NEC which was tiring due to the vastness of the show, but very interesting and enjoyed by all who went.
