2. BICESTER U3A

  • Accessibility Policy: This policy has been drawn up to ensure that Bicester U3A takes steps to review accessibility needs for individual members and makes reasonable adjustments, where possible, to accommodate the needs of members with disabilities and/or health-related needs.
  • Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy (or EDI): This policy has been drawn up to comply with the Equality Act 2010. The Act stipulates that organisations cannot treat someone unfairly based on what it calls 'protected characteristics'.
  • Safeguarding Policy: This policy and procedure are written to enable the Bicester U3A committee to address issues where there are safeguarding concerns. Safeguarding includes incidents between members and concerns regarding abuse or neglect.
  • Health and Safety Policy: This document contains several useful sections: Insurance, risk assessments, responding to accidents/incidents and dealing with emergencies.

  • Beacon User Guide for Group Leaders is the user's guide to Beacon for group leaders. Group leaders should be using the Beacon software to communicate with group members in a GDPR-safe manner.

4. ONLINE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES IN OTHER U3As

  • Interest Groups Online (or IGO) is an online u3a that allows you to join online groups, talks and courses. Like any u3a are its activities run by members for members. Take a look at the Groups page, for details of their online interest groups, courses and talks. Bicester U3A members can join the Interest Groups Online as full members, membership for 2024/25 starting 1 April 2024 is £12.00. Use this link to join this u3a: Join Interest Groups Online.
  • The Online Learning Events (refreshed every month!) of the U3A Trust is another source of interesting talks. If you are too lazy to check regularly the talks that are listed, subscribe to their events mailing.
  • Thames Valley Network (or TVN) unites unites 49 U3As in our area (correct in February 2024). On the other hand, this organization does not have individual members. Representatives of the 49 U3As meet four times a year for an exchange of ideas. This network U3A also runs regular talks on various topics. More information is on their website.
