Many thanks go to our judge Jenny Potter who not only picked our winners but also provided some very thoughtful insight into how she made her choice and you can read her comments on all the entries below:

Looking at these wonderful images, I get the impression that Berwyn U3A are finding delight in lockdown.
The story seems to be that nature provides us with a feast of beauty and food, the richness of the colours glowing in the veggie box. The dandelion clocks tell a story of changing times but the focus is on the bright yellow buttercups, the next stage of the story. If the blue tits can adapt and make a home in what looks like inhospitable surroundings, maybe we can too. Change, adaptation and hope for the future. And if we have “a grey day” – a dramatic image which well illustrates the fear and desolation some are experiencing – then maybe there’s a way out over that wall with the stepping stones and there’s beauty on the other side.
Well! I seem to be making up a story out of your images. I have really enjoyed studying them and seeing the world through your eyes. It has been hard to choose my favourite three as there is so much of interest in each one, whether it is humour, with the socially isolating cats, love for a little child in a bright dress, or just plain revelling in the patterns, textures and different qualities of light – the deep shadows of the resting figure taking a break from exercise or the softly diffused light illustrating the mystery of the woodland: I love that shaft of light coming down like a waterfall.
I think you photographers have been encouraging us to look again with new eyes. The astonishing crystal clarity of the image of the columbine, the richness of the red of the peony and the pools of blue in the woods delight us with their depth of colour. And many of the images have a satisfying balance and structure – the elegant stile, the cloud mirroring the shape of the Berwyn, the welcoming solidity of the house with its lighted window and the pink glow surrounding it. Many of the images have a painterly quality which I love – the path through the wildflower gardens and the early morning light pictures.
