You don't need to be an artist or have any knowledge of art to appreciate art. You don't even have to like all the images we look at; we all have different opinions and enjoy lively discussions on the subjects. We aim to broaden our knowledge and challenge our perception and understanding of art, but mainly we aim to enjoy ourselves.
Art Appreciation Group Continuation October 2021- June 2022
The Art Appreciation Group is trying to continue over the year ahead, within the following parameters -
Lesley has been leader of this friendly group for the last 5 years but is going to be away intermittently over the year ahead.
Therefore, we are seeking a new leader or co-leader [Lesley is planning to remain in the group, hopefully as an 'ordinary' member but possibly as co-leader].
However, two friends could also share the lead role supporting each other and sharing the tasks.
On-line survey of group members
The following points reflect the majority of the current members' views:
Most of the group want to remain in Art Appreciation.
Most of the members prefer to continue meeting on Zoom for the time being with a review of the situation in January.
Gallery visits, when possible, are enjoyed.
None of the members felt able to lead the group though several offered to help with various tasks. These include researching and presenting presentations, hosting Zoom, introducing speakers. Many of the members would happily contribute to 'Bring and Share' and 6 members offered to collate Bring and Share.
In addition, members send [by email usually] interesting art site links, items, news, programmes, events etc to the leader for sharing with the wider group.
This willing member activity is a big help to any leader.
If you'd like to join our group, or would like to know more about 'being leader', please send a message via the envelope symbol on this page!
