201811 - Canvey Heights

Thursday 8 November 2018 visit to Canvey Heights and West Canvey Marsh

We met at the Canvey Heights car park before setting off on our walk to explore the park. Glorious weather, blue sky and sunshine. Wonderful views over the estuary to Hadleigh Castle and Leigh-on-Sea. We saw a number of wading birds including Curlew, Redshank, Egrets and we think flocks of Turnstones looking silver in the sunlight as they flew.

After a stop for coffee at Morrisons, we went on to West Canvey Marsh where we visited the bird hide overlooking the lagoon. Among the birds we saw were Lapwings, Cormorants, Teal and Widgeon.

Thanks to Lyn and Alan Aldridge for the photos.
