Belfast

Welcome

Welcome to the website of Belfast University of the Third Age

If you would you like to try something new or to share your existing skills, we invite you to join us and try one of our 65 interest groups. Not only will you have the chance to share learning experiences in a wide range of topics and activities but you will also have the opportunity to make new friends and have some fun. We are a self-help organisation and also a registered charity with groups which are led by members for members. Our group activities include, but are not confined to - bridge, walking, cycling, languages, reading, creative writing, philosophy, bowling and photography. (See Groups Tab above for a full list of activities).

Belfast u3a, which has over 1000 members, is part of a wider University of the Third Age movement throughout the world and is supported in the UK by the Third Age Trust. (For more information, see Our History link on this page)

We have a meeting open to all members at the Balmoral Hotel, Dunmurry usually on the last Thursday of every month at 11am. Each month we invite a different speaker to the meeting and we do our best to ensure that the topics are diverse and interesting. We also have a bi-monthly Newsletter containing information on group activities and monthly meetings, which is sent to all members.

The only condition for joining is that you are not in full time employment.
