All Weather Walking Groups

Choose between
Amblers - short and usually 'on the flat''.
Ramblers - 5/6 miles with some hills.
Scramblers - 7/9 miles hill walking.
Not the Munros - as the Scramblers but without the climbs!

There are also occasional Smart Walks, where we explore Northern Ireland and make use of our concessionary bus passes. These offer an alternative to those who are not free to walk on a Thursday.

We walk in all weathers, wind, rain or shine!

Please note:
The Third Age Trust’s Public Liability Insurance covers U3A members while out walking, but does not provide personal accident insurance. Participants on walks (including guests) should take responsibility for their own care, safety and equipment. They should remain with the group.

Dates for your Diary
Mon Aug 31st Brenda advises:
1. With very able help from Carol Rusk, I have compiled a mini-newsletter for the Walking Group.
We have received contributions from our group members - reminiscences, poems, stories, photos, quizzes etc. We have distributed our First Edition and are planning the follow up.
2. We have a weekly live fitness session in which participants meet online by Zoom. This free session is led by my daughter free of charge.
3. In order to facilitate our members to participate in the fitness sessions, I have been conducting Zoom practice sessions. These enable us to share our step by step learning and familiarise ourselves with this medium. By using Zoom for our online fitness, and by learning about it together, we are up-skilling people, who can take their new skills and use them in other settings - family groups, other interest groups etc.
4. I have also started a phone sharing network of our members, whereby people permit their numbers to be shared to enable mutual support.
