Joining Belfast U3A

To join Belfast U3A*, simply click on the Contact tab above and send an email to Mavis, our membership secretary, making sure you provide your full name and postal address.

Or simply come along to one of our monthly meetings, have a coffee and a chat and find out what we have to offer. The meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at 10.30am in Belvoir Players' Theatre opposite Belvoir Park Primary School.

You can be sure of a warm welcome.

* Belfast U3A is a registered Charity with the NI Charity Commission, Reg. No. NIC101362.

COST: The annual donation is £20. Taxpayers can gift aid this amount (please ask for a form at the time of payment) but remember if you don't pay tax/cease to pay tax, you can't do this. The donation covers administration charges, eg rental of hall for meetings, postage, affiliation to the National body and 5 copies per year of the National U3A magazine – Third Age Matters. Groups are non-profit-making; they are run on the principle of ‘by the members for the members’. However some groups do incur small charges for use of premises or where a leader with specialist skills is required (eg pilates).

ONCE YOU HAVE JOINED: You will be free to join any of the many Belfast U3A activities (see GROUPS button above). You will receive the monthly newsletter either by email or post which tells you what is happening in the next month (eg one-off visits to exhibitions, plays etc) and has contact details for convenors of all the groups. If you are interested in trying out any of the groups, just phone or email the convenor for that group. In October you will be invited to a new members’ get together where you will have the chance to meet members of the Committee and other new members. Or if you have any general questions, please feel free to ask any committee member or contact us by email from the Contacts page.
