Ode To Mothers

Ode To Mothers

If we could buy a mother in a high street shop
As we do with our cornflakes or a best end chop
What price would she be?
Would we pay by the pound?
Would she need wrapping?
Where's the best to be found?
The job description - would it never end?
No employment bureau could comprehend
The task undertaken
The burdens we thrust
On mother, the friend we can love and trust
