You need to be a member of Bedford U3A to join this group
Group Leader: | Jackie Horn - see Bulletin for telephone number |
Time: | Every second Tuesday at 2pm |
Venue/Location: | Members' homes |
Vacancies: | New members welcome |
The group originally came together after completing the Creative Writing Course run by Mike Eastwood. Now members join as and when there is a vacancy. We write short stories each month to agreed themes. Some members prefer to write in verse.
It is a very relaxed group with storytellers as well as writers. We like to keep it informal and share our knowledge and learn from each other. If you are interested in writing or joining a group of like-minded people don’t be shy. Give me a ring to arrange to come along and see if it’s for you.
We try to arrange a theatre outing each year and in 2018 it was to see the Bedford Marianettes perform “The Addams Family”. We were very impressed by the high standard of singing and acting and it was a good social event. For 2019 I am currently arranging a visit to see the Bedford Marianettes’ production of Oliver on Saturday 26th October.
I have coordinated a printed book of a collection of Bedford U3A Members Poems and I am now selling the remaining copies. At £5 per set for Vol 1 and 2 it is very good value and a good read when sitting quietly with a cup of coffee.
Joining the group people have all different abilities and soon get into the swing of pulling something together. Encouragement is given and we discuss what we like about each other’s writing or storytelling.
