The Christmas Cracker Cavort will be on Tuesday 5th December 2023 meeting on the platform at Whitley Bay Metro Station at 11.00am.

It’s a point-to-point walk starting at Whitley Bay Metro Station and finishing at North Shields Ferry Landing-the total distance being approximately 5.0/5.5 miles.

The intention is to have our Christmas Lunch Stop at The Low Lights Tavern at North Shields Fish Quay who do an excellent pie, peas and mash (or even twice fried chips) together with lashing of their excellent gravy-sorry not turkey and stuffing-and washed down with a couple of pints of real ale. Menu available on line.

The walk will definitely be at a leisurely pace and passes through interesting parts of Whitley Bay and along the sea front to Cullercoats, Tynemouth and North Shields Fish Quay.

Terrain is mainly along pavements and promenades although access to the promenade at Cullercoats is no longer possible because of the recent storms playing havoc with the railings and stonework.

I would expect to arrive at The Low Lights at approximately 1.15/1.30pm and leave when we get chucked out!!!

Should any Cavorters wanting to sample the delights of The Low Lights but not doing the full walk we can arrange to meet walkers at either Cullercoats or Tynemouth please let me know your preferred meeting point and times can be arranged.

It would be helpful if you would let me know if you are coming to the Christmas Cavort and Pie Lunch either by text, email or even the good old fashioned phone call.

Christmas Jumpers and Bobble Hats are not compulsory but!!!!
