Poetry for Pleasure
POETRY FOR PLEASURE meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, at three of the members’ houses in Basildon. In order to select poems from every possible poet, members have a card printed annually with a selection of initial letters for each month, plus an alternative theme – chosen by members. For instance, January has the initial letters A and L and the theme is Journeys; February is B and Weather. Each member reads two or three poems of their choice, and there is usually a comment or two about the poem after each one. The afternoon concludes with refreshment and a social chat. Numbers are restricted because of the venues, but we do have a place for one or two more.
