The Compleat Gardener Group was formed in 2007 from members of the Essex History Group 1.
It was intended, initially, as an ‘armchair’ gardening group to reflect the mobility of the membership.
The programme was entirely different from the one we now follow.
We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month, although latterly we have realised that we need to be a little more flexible.
In the winter months we tend to have discussions in each other’s homes and meet at 10.30 a.m.
In the summer we are out and about, meeting mainly at 2p.m. Current members are happy to travel further afield, if necessary.
We have, now, also achieved the perfect mix of leisure and learning. The learning comes in many ways and the leisure is achieved by fitting in lunch or afternoon tea (or both) when we are on visits.
We are a truly happy group.
