Membership of Basildon & Billericay u3a is open to anyone no longer in full-time employment in Basildon, Billericay, Wickford and and surrounding areas. New members pay £15 for the year or £10 if joining after 1st October 2022. This covers administration costs, including a membership subscription fee of £3.50 to the national organisation, the Third Age Trust. It entitles members to take part in as many of the interest/activity Groups as they wish, to attend monthly meetings, and to receive monthly Newsletters, as well as the "Third Age Matters" magazine from the Third Age Trust.

Any social events, outings, holidays etc. will involve additional costs; and participation in some Groups may incur expenses for books, materials, and possibly travel costs and/or a pub lunch when visiting places of interest to the Group. When travelling to an outside event, where possible, some members may help each other with transport. When sharing transport a donation, towards costs, is usually made to the driver. This is worked on the basis of 45p per mile shared between those in the car, including the driver.

The majority of Group meetings take place in members’ homes and it is customary to contribute a minimum 50p on the day towards the cost of tea and coffee.

You will be aware that the cost of postage is now quite a significant sum so please help us by downloading the form from the LINKS page or send a request via e-mail to membershipsecbbu3a@gmail.com and Stuart will return one to you. If you do not have access to a printer please ask a friend or relative if they can download one for you.

Failing that please phone Stuart on 07960 564707 and he will do his best to get one to you, but please remember that if one is posted to you and then your membership card is posted to you, we have spent 2/5ths of your fee.
