Information re the Battle U3A

Whether you are already a member of our U3A, or just browsing, we hope that you will find something of interest on our website.

U3As are self-help, self-managed learning cooperatives of people who are no longer in full time employment, which enable members to share many educational, creative, cultural and leisure interests. U3As deliver these activities in special interest groups. Each U3A has a number of groups covering specific subjects, and each is run by a group leader. A range of interest groups and topics are on offer – ideas for new groups are always welcome. We aim for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where, with a chance to meet old and new friends, you will be made most welcome.

The Battle and District U3A was formed in 2004 and now has over 290 members and 33 interest groups. For details of our current groups, click on "Groups" above.

We hold monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month, or if there is a bank holiday then the following Monday, in the Emmanuel Centre, Harrier Lane, Battle, TN33 0FL. Members are welcome from 10am for tea and coffee and a chance to chat to other members. At 10.30 there is normally a talk, usually by a visiting speaker, followed by questions and a discussion. The meeting closes at 12pm. To see the current programme of talks, click on "Events" above.

Directions to The Emmanuel Centre:
From Battle town centre go down the High Street in the direction of Hastings, pass St Mary's Chursh on the left and at the mini roundabout turn left into Marley Lane. Once over the level crossing carry on for about 350 yards and turn right into Harrier Lane. The centre is at the top of the lane on the left. Car parking is free. Total distance 1 mile.

Please feel free to come along to one of our monthly meetings to find out more about us and what we do. Visitors are welcome to attend up to 2 meetings before becoming a member. Our Membership Secretary will be at the meeting and will give you an application form, or go to our Membership page to download a form now.
