Barnstaple

Barnstaple U3A

Welcome to Barnstaple U3A.

Barnstaple is an attractive small town in North Devon set on the estuary of the river Taw . It is about 5 miles from the golden sandy beaches of Instow, Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe.

Barnstaple U3A has existed since 1984 making it one of the first to be established in the country never mind in the county. It is for anyone no longer in full time employment and provides an opportunity to meet others who share interests and get together to find ways to learn more, take exercise, and generally socialise. Groups are formed by members for members and cover a wide range of topics from Science to literature, Table tennis to Rambling, and Craft to Music.
Barnstaple is run by a committee of members who see to finances and administration and provide support for members running groups and encouragement for anyone hoping to introduce something new. All U3As are in turn supported by a National Organisation which also gives advice and guidance.

For details about membership please go to our Membership Page and for information about groups currently running to the Groups Page. Other information is shown on the Events Page.

Our principal meeting is our Coffee Morning with Guest Speaker (hearing loop in operation) held usually on the first Thursday of each month at Roundswell Community Hall, Barnstaple, from 9.45am to about 12 noon. The business of the meeting begins about 10.30am, and the cost including coffee/tea and biscuit is currently £1. We also join together as a U3A every 3 months for a lunch currently held at the Williams Arms, Wrafton.

A warm welcome will be given to you by our friendly group.
