Due to increasing space needs this will now meet at the Dodworth Miners Welfare, our meetups are moving to a Friday morning, 10 pm till 12 noon. The first will be on the 8th June. The welfare is on the High Street, you turn in between the chemist and the Thornley Arms Pub. There's loads of parking, we can also purchase coffee and soft drinks. Those who use the buses it's the number 22 from the stand 5, the buses run on the hour and half hour, and you get off at the co-op.
You will have noticed that we now have two hours, the first hour we will cover group issues, Facebook adds, using Google securely, WhatsApp and lots of other things. The second hour I plan on doing three or four, one to ones. If you feel you would benefit from a one to one, please email me with what you would like resolving. Sorry but this will be on a first, come basis, and an extra £1 in the blue box.
The purpose of the group is to give members the opportunity to come along with their tablets, iPads, phones, even laptops.
You might have a new phone you can't quite get to grips with, or maybe it's a tablet your kids kindly purchased for you, that apart from turning on you hadn't gotten a clue what to do with, or perhaps you'd like to come and try having a go with a view to purchasing. Hopefully, we should be able to offer you this opportunity.
Modern technology doesn't have to be scary. Sending and receiving emails is a lovely way of keeping in touch with family and friends. Facebook is a whole new world, and the BU3A has its own group, once you've learned how to stay safe online the world's your oyster. Perhaps you've got family that lives a distance away, even abroad. You can use your phone or tablet free on WIFI to chat to them.
You can purchase a tablet from as little as £35 for a 7” kindle Fire, £110 for a kindle 10” tablet. You can spend as little or as much as you wish going up to an Ipad) for £300 £400 pounds. Even if you've got a laptop you've never mastered, pop along and see how we can help you.
Vanda Outram will lead this group. For details call 07872834044.
