Passchendaele, Andrew and Sue Green 1 DAY COURSE

Passchendaele along with the Somme has come to symbolise the horrors of World
War 1
The day will look at how this small village which lay on a ridge 5 miles north east of the Flanders city of Ypres came to encapsulate the grim brutality of the Great War.
We'll look at the logistics of the 3rd Battle of Ypres, which has become known as the Battle of Passchendaele, but also discover how the horrors of the Battle of the Mud, inspired the arts, produced humour and has added to our own local and personal history.

Anyone attending with Passchendaele family links is welcome to bring along any pictures or family stories so we can compile over the 2 days a U3A archive of local lads and their families who contributed to the battle in 1917. For those who aren't sure if they have family heroes in this or other WW1 battles may also find some useful tips on researching WW1 ancestors.
