Learn to read the rudiments of music, and play a brass instrument.
The Old Blowers group was established in November 2016. The idea of creating this group was to give members the chance to learn all about the rudiments of music from the absolute beginning. Furthermore, members were given the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument. The ethos behind this was to follow up on Medical evidence which suggested that learning music or taking up a new language would help to stave off the onset of dementia! The group is 14 strong and are now playing music, an astonishing achievement in such a short space of time, plus public engagements!
Our next engagement is scheduled for 28th of April at Saint Edwards Church along with the Stringalongs and Alan Swann with his unique comedy presentation. it starts at 7pm and all proceeds will be split between The Church and Amnesty International. Following this we will be playing at the Staincross Methodist church in Mapplewell on May the 12th again commencing at 7pm.
On the 17th and 18th of May we are running a 'Music can be Fun' session at the U3A,s spring school. It is taking place at the Ibis hotel in Dodworth from 9am with lunch included. it promises to be a great day out for anyone interested. Please contact Beth for full details.
