Learn to read the rudiments of music, and play a brass instrument.
The Old Blowers group was established in November 2016. The idea of creating this group was to give members the chance to learn all about the rudiments of music from the absolute beginning. Furthermore, members were given the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument. The ethos behind this was to follow up on Medical evidence which suggested that learning music or taking up a new language would help to stave off the onset of dementia! The group is 12 strong and are now playing music, an astonishing achievement in such a short space of time. A new Old Blowers group is due to start for new beginners in August. Please contact Either Max Senior (Coordinator) or Robert Green Development officer. The absolute beginners class begins at 9am, followed by the old blowers at 10am. all members are welcome to stay for the full session.
We meet on Thursday mornings at Dodworth Miner's Welfare Centre, starting at 9am for beginners and 10am playing until 12 noon.
This is a very popular group with a current membership of 12 members, but we can accommodate up to 18
The group's tutors and coordinators are Max Senior, and Roy Gamble.
You can find Max's details in the contact list that accompanies The Buzz magazine.
