History, The Stuarts
-----In this twice monthly group, this year we are studying the Stuart period. So we will be blowing up the Houses of Parliament, chopping off a king's head, looking at some civil war battles, especially the local ones. We will be looking at smuggling babies into bed chambers, the scandals and romances of the period.
But we will also look at famous people of the period, and much much more.
We use videos and talking, and members are encouraged to make a contribution on any relevant subject. It's a lively group, and you will be welcome.
We meet at Monk Bretton Methodist Church on the second and fourth Mondays at 10 am, starting on September 11th. You will be welcome to join us, and if you can't make it every time, that's fine. We try to make each session stand alone.
Feel free to contact me on 01226 241477 if you are interested
Next meeting, October 23, Sue Green will give a presentation on Earl Strafford (ie, Thomas Wentworth), a local person to Barnsley, who met a sad end.
