As well as groups for study and recreation, Barnsley & District U3A organises a number of social events each year which are open to all members. Keep an eye out for these in the calendar on our Events page, (we now also promote major events on our Home page, the very first page you see when visiting our website), or contact the organisers (details of social event organisers are on the printed contacts sheet, which is available to our members). Events include:-
Social Committee Events
These include the Annual Lunch which takes place near to Christmas, and various other themed nights, ceilidhs, etc throughout the year.
Each year the Travel Committee put together a programme of holidays and day trips to various parts of the country. It is a chance to have a break away with other fellow U3A members, and maybe do something a little different.
This group meets once every two months for an Italian meal at local restaurants on the last Thursday of the month. (It alternates with Curry Nights). Remember to book your place early as these meals often sell out!
This very popular group meets once every two months on a Thursday evening at a local Curry House. They enjoy an evening of Indian food and, of course, great company!
