Chrissie White, Audrey Eyre, Gill Errington, and Helen Dew are all members of the Travel Group. We organise day trips for our group, and also short breaks away which are available to all members of our Barnsley & District U3A. We arrange our trips through the services of Yorkshire Rose Holidays ensuring that all aspects of our travel and accomodation are professionally planned.
We took over at the beginning of 2016 and have organised day trips to Lincoln and Liverpool, and also a two night stay at Longleat to see the Chinese Lanterns in the Festival of Lights.
Trips in 2018
We organised an overnight trip to Scarborough, including a trip on the Pickering to Whitby railway.
A boat trip and carvery on the River Trent was so successful that we are running it again in 2019
We organised a trip to London to include Classical Spectacular which was very enjoyable
Castle Howard at Christmas was our last enjoyable trip of the year.
Trips for 2019
All our trips pick up at BARNSLEY Bus Station and in PENISTONE
We have opened the interest lists for the following day trips and 1 night stays in 2019, please contact us, to let us know you are interested with no obligation and they include:
Stratford, Warwick Castle and National Arboretum departing on July 5th for 2 days, 1 night The price of £115 pp in twin/ double room includes:
One night dinner, bed and breakfast at the Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel (Welbourne)
Visit to National Arboretum on the way down with the afternoon in Stratford on Avon
The following day after breakfast we will travel to Warwick Castle, entrance is included.
A limited number of single rooms are available at supplement of £25 per person.
We still have a limited number of places left, £30 deposit secures your booking
Big Band overnight trip 8th December, £110 per person, single supplement payable. Staying at the Eastwood Hall Hotel. A visit to Nottingham winter wonderland and then on to the hotel. Evening entertainment - Mike James Orchestra and singers. We hope to travel to Chatsworth House the following day to see the house dressed for Christmas, an extra charge will apply. We are hoping to make this a totally U3A trip and need 4 more passengers in order to do this More seats are available
Day Trips (pick ups at BARNSLEY bus station and PENISTONE)
Trent River Cruise with carvery, back by popular demand. Sunday 9th June, £36.00 per person. This trip includes a visit to East Midlands shopping outlet. 2 places left. The meal is excellent and the captain gives an informative commentary as you travel on the River Trent. Reserve list in operation
Beamish Open Air Museum, 16th September, £27.00 to include admission. If you are interested please put your name on the interest list
The short breaks and day trips are open to all members of our Barnsley & District U3A.
