Chrissie White, Lynn Maloney, Audrey Eyre, Gill Errington, and Helen Dew are all members of the Travel Group. We organise day trips for our group, and also short breaks away which are available to all members of our Barnsley & District U3A. We arrange our trips through the services of Yorkshire Rose Holidays ensuring that all aspects of our travel and accomodation are professionally planned.
We took over at the beginning of 2016 and have organised day trips to Lincoln and Liverpool, and also a two night stay at Longleat to see the Chinese Lanterns in the Festival of Lights.
Trips in 2018
22/23rd April, Trip to Scarborough. Travelling first to Pickering and taking the steam train to Whitby. Afternoon in Whitby then onward journey to hotel in Scarborough. Following day in Scarborough before returning to Barnsley.
16th September, Boat trip on River Trent, to include lunch. This was a very successful trip. We had a lovely meal and the captain was very informative as we sailed down the river. We are thinking of repeating this trip or one similar next year.
25/26th November, Classical Spectacular, staying at Tower Hotel London FULL
29th November, Castle Howard at Christmas, Day trip
Trips for 2019
We have opened the interest lists for the following day trips and longer stays in 2019, please contact us, to let us know you are interested with no obligation and they include:
May 20th for five days, Norfolk Broads and Sandringham House. The price of £399 per person in a twin / double room includes 4 nights dinner, bed and breakfast at Dunstan Hall Hotel
Use of pool, sauna, steam room and gym.
Excursion on North Norfolk Railway with a visit to Cromer
Boat trip on the Wroxham Broads with a visit to Norwich
Visit/ entry to Sandringham House
Door to Door pick up, (subject to area)

Stratford, Warwick Castle and National Arboretum departing on July 5th for 2 days. The price of £115 pp in twin/ double room includes:
One night dinner, bed and breakfast at the Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel (Welbourne)
Visit to National Arboretum
Visit to Stratford on Avon
Visit/ Entrance to Warwick Castle
A limited number of single rooms are available at supplement of £25 per person
South Wales, staying at Ivy Bush hotel, Carmarthen £359.00 pp. 5 days, Price includes a visit to Tenby and Saundersfoot, a visit to National Botanical Gardens of Wales and a free day in Carmarthen. Door to Door pick up
Day Trips (pick ups at Barnsley bus station and Penistone)
Trip to Emmerdale Studio Experience (indoor) with the afternoon in Harrogate. Cost £35.00 to include entrance fee
Trent River Cruise with carver, back by popular demand. Sunday 9th June, £36.00 per person. This trip includes a visit to a shopping outlet.
Beamish Open Air Museum, 16th September, £27.00 to include admission
Big Band- £110, price includes visit to Lincoln Christmas market and overnight stay at Eastwood Hall Hotel with Big Band entertainment. Following day a visit to Nottingham Christmas market.
The short breaks and day trips are open to all members of our Barnsley & District U3A.
