Barnsley Rocks Geology Group
Barnsley’s past fame and fortune is a consequence of the town's underlying geology. However the local
geology is not all about coal, within the district is geological and fossil evidence of an estuary,
mighty rivers, flood plains, dense tropical forests, arid deserts and subtropical lagoons.
Through presentations and field visits Barnsley Rocks Geology Group will explain and explore these features.
Further afield are The Peak District and The Yorkshire Dales, both of which have some of the best “in your face” geology in the north of England.
Under normal circumstances meetings are every third Friday of the month starting at 10:00. This group will look at Geology. Contact the leader for detail. The venue will be Burton Grange, Lundwood.
However for the foreseeable future meetings will be held on line via Zoom.
