Events in 2023

Open Meetings are held throughout the year in the Banstead Community Hall, Park Road, Banstead SM7 3AJ where there is free car parking.

Daytime meeting/events commence at 2.30 [doors open from 2pm] unless otherwise stated.

Speakers are booked to provide an approximately one hour talk on their specialist subject after which there are questions followed by tea / coffee and biscuits.

There is no entrance fee for u3a members. On arrival Banstead u3a members should give their name and postcode at the reception table. Members of other u3a branches will be asked to show their membership cards. Visitors are welcome to attend any talk for a £3 entrance fee except the annual April lecture which is for Banstead U3A members only.

Please read on for details of forthcoming talks. Study days are open to all u3a members and guests are very welcome.

This concert sponsored by our Banstead u3a branch. An evening event at the Community Hall from 7:30-9:00pm featuring Epsom Male Voice Choir. Tickets at £10.00 each are available from the library, from www.bansteadarts.org.uk or on the door as available.

Coffee Hour with Social Team

Got a spare hour for a chat? Come along to our coffee hour for a tea or coffee - time to be confirmed.

The coffee hour is moving to a Monday morning at Banstead Community Hall from this month and there will only be ONE meeting in May on Monday 13th due to Bank Holidays. Thereafter, the coffee hour will be on the 2nd and fourh Monday of the month.

Socialise with other members over tea and cake. Bring your unwanted plants, books and puzzles to the Community Hall and swap them for something else! 2:30-4:30pm. This is an event where new members can meet a wider group of Banstead u3a and Committee members.

An all day music event in Nork Park. We will have a gazebo on the day. Come and join us, all welcome, including MOTO. starts at 12:00 noon.

100 Piers — Painting at the water’s edge. Speaker: Paul Tracey.

Paul is an artist and designer, his talk focuses on the piers along the south coast (many will be familiar) and their history using archive newspaper articles going back almost 200 years, and old postcards.

Members of other u3a's can attend free of charge on the production of a membership card. Members of the public are welcome, £3 per person.

The Saxophone and my Life as an Army Musician.

Speaker: Jon Woodhouse.

Jon`s talk will include a little background information about the Saxophone, and of course the experiences, and the people he met during his long career. He will also bring with him various Instruments, and demonstrate them for us.

Bobbie is an author who has had a varied career. Positions range from mushroom picker, and film extra to working in social
research and government policy. She has published 5 novels to date.
