The Country Walks Group does 2 walks a month on different days to increase flexibility for members.
Our aim is to enjoy the beauty of the local countryside by walking along its footpaths – new members very welcome.
Walks take place on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Wednesday of the month throughout the year, starting at 10am. The group meets at a prearranged location (often a village church or similar easily identified place).
Length of walks will usually be in the range 4–5 miles, and within a 10-mile radius of Banbury. Occasionally we plan a longer, all-day walk of 6–8 miles with either a picnic or pub lunch.
Informal meetings to plan six months of walks take place in January and June. The programme will then be circulated to members and displayed on the Banbury U3A website.
Members need to be reasonably fit and able to climb stiles. They should have appropriate footwear and clothing for walking and be prepared to encounter mud for most months of the year.
The outline programme of walks can be downloaded by clicking the link on the right.
More detailed notes about each walk will be circulated to members by the walk leader beforehand.
