Poetry Appreciation
Convenor : | Kenneth Brown |
Meeting Times : | Every Monday a.m. on Zoom |
We vary our meetings according to the ideas put forward by our members. The main business of each meeting is reading and discussing poems. Often we agree a topic a week or two in advance and bring, read and discuss poems on that theme. We are very frank about our reactions and often have lively disagreements.
Sometimes one of us undertakes to introduce the work of one poet, such as Shelley, Hardy, Seamus Heaney, Carole Anne Duffy or Jackie Kay.
Occasionally we start with a more detailed study of one more substantial poem, such as ‘Ode to a Nightingale’ or ‘Tintern Abbey’. We also fit in some longer narrative poems.
The group is full at present. If you would like to start up another Poetry Group, please contact the Groups' Convenor via the Contact page.
