The u3a Taichi group started in March 2023 and has proved to be popular.
We practise Yi Jin Jing Qi Gong and the Yang style 24 step Taichi. The Qi Gong exercises are based on very ancient forms of Chinese exercise with a modern scientific approach. They focus on tendon stretching, muscle strengthening and flexibility.
The Yang style Taichi forms are among the most widely practised in the world. They combine movements in a slow moving sequence that improve balance, coordination, flexibility, muscle strength and cardiovascular health. The resulting circulation of vital energy and calmness of mind is beneficial in improving and maintaining health and well-being in people of all ages.

Comfortable flat shoes and loose clothing is all that is needed to take part in this easy, fun and sociable form of exercise.
