Each month members of the group choose paintings or artworks from any era and any part of the world on a suggested theme. These are displayed on a screen and the person who chose each picture talks briefly about it - either giving some historical context, talking about the artist or techniques or just explaining why they do or do not like it. This then opens up interesting discussions. Sometimes everyone contributes a picture and sometimes just two or three people. Themes have included 'earth', 'water', 'blue', 'passion', 'my favourite artist' and we get a wide variety of pictures and a wide variety of opinions. Some of us 'just know what we like' and some are well travelled and knowledgeable, but everyone learns from each other and we often find things to smile about. Meadgate Church Orchard Centre has a lovely cafe where we meet beforehand and then sometimes have a bite to eat afterwards so we really are meeting the u3a mission of learning, laughing and living
