The Cycling Group is quite a new group.
THE NEXT RIDE
Who knows when! In line with government advice group cycling activities have been suspended.
Friday 4th October
The ride started from Ayr. The group headed towards Hayes Garden Centre via Monkton and Adamton. After some light refreshment, the group continued by crossing the A77 to Symington, and then heading down the Kerrix road towards Prestwick. The distance was about 25 miles.
Wednesday, 3rd July
The first ride had five participants. It was led by June Davies and was from The Burns Birthplace Museum to Troon and back along the NCN Cycle Path 77.
Thursday, 1st August.
The second was led by Andy Shand. Six of us lined up for this ride. The ride was from Irvine to Portencross and back. Virtually all of it was along NCN Cycle Routes 77 and 73. Despite the recent weather, (thunderstorms and floods), the weather was spectacularly good. We think that Andy has a special power over the weather.
The distance from Irvine to Porthencross was 16 miles. After a brief stop at Portencross, got our breath back and enjoyed the views, we set off back to the Rowan Tree in Ardrossan for lunch. After that on the return home few of us could resist the temptation of an ice cream in Saltcoats!
Wednesday, 28th August.
The Cyclists' third trip out was a ride to Browning's Bakery in Kilmarnock. Muriel had a Kilmarnock Pie, (previously known as a Killie Pie!), which was delicious. The start and finish of our day out was Troon. Most of the journey was along the Irvine to Kilmarnock Cycle Route.
Wednesday 18th September
Everyone met at the Burns Museum, Alloway.
Then they cycled to Maybole via cycle track and B roads via Dalrymple. They had a coffee stop (toilets) at The Carrick Centre Maybole. Approx. 18 miles.
